ESTHER MONROE

VANDUSER -- Esther M. Monroe, 77, of Vanduser died Tuesday, Feb. 24, 1998, at Clearview Nursing Center in Sikeston.

She was born Oct. 26, 1920, in Cape Girardeau, the daughter of William and Helen Knobe Stein.

She married John R. Monroe on April 27, 1940. He died June 13, 1975.

She was a member of Evangelical United Church of Christ. She worked at International Shoe Co. for several years and owned and operated Monroe Glass Co. in Cape Girardeau from 1944 to 1988.

She is survived by two sons, Richard Timothy Monroe and John Charles Monroe, both of Vanduser, and five grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel. Funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Revs. James Caughlan and Ernest Jordan officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
