Erwin Koch

Erwin O. "Jim" Koch, 90, of New Wells, Mo., died Sunday, April 13, 2008, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Oct. 5, 1917, in New Wells, son of Martin and Maria Weinberg Koch Sr. He and Elsie Fritsche were married Nov. 6, 1937, in Farrar, Mo. She died Oct. 24, 2003.

Koch was a resident of New Wells, a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Wells and a farmer of crops and livestock. He attended the former Immanuel Lutheran Grade School and graduated from the former public school in New Wells.

Survivors include two sons, Jim Koch of Waterloo, Ill., and Bill Koch of New Wells; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers and four sisters.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson and after 9 a.m. Wednesday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Wells.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the church, with the Rev. Walter Patzwitz officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
