LONGTOWN -- Erwin Grass, 73, of Longtown died Thursday, July 8, 1999, at Perry County Memorial Hospital in Perryville.
He was born July 27, 1925, at Friedheim, son of Henry C. and Martha Schubert Grass. He and LaVerne Hacker were married July 8, 1948. She died Oct. 31, 1997.
Grass worked at International Shoe Co. 23 years and at Atlas Plastics in Cape Girardeau 23 years. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, life member of VFW and AmVets, American Legion Post 133, and River Hills Eagles Aerie 4034.
Survivors include a daughter, Janice Eckert of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Elmer Grass of Menfro; two sisters, Hattie Bohnert of Cape Girardeau, Hilda Vogel of Washington, Mo.; two stepgrandchildren; and two great-stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
Friends may call at Young and Sons Funeral Home in Perryville from 4-9 p.m. today, and Sunday from 6:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. The wake will be held tonight.
Funeral will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Zion Church, with the Rev. Paul Winningham officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
