Erwin A. Dreyer, 85, of Cape Girardeau, Mo., died Sunday, Dec. 3, 2000, at his home. He was born on May 27, 1915, in Frohna, Mo., son of Joachim and Anna Schlimpert Dreyer. He was baptized, schooled, and then confirmed in 1929 at Concordia Lutheran Church in Frohna. He first married Lucille Gerharter, June 7, 1936, in Shawneetown, Mo. She died March 19, 1974. They were blessed with two children, a son, Leonard and a daughter, JoAnn, who died in 1963...

Erwin A. Dreyer, 85, of Cape Girardeau, Mo., died Sunday, Dec. 3, 2000, at his home.

He was born on May 27, 1915, in Frohna, Mo., son of Joachim and Anna Schlimpert Dreyer.

He was baptized, schooled, and then confirmed in 1929 at Concordia Lutheran Church in Frohna. He first married Lucille Gerharter, June 7, 1936, in Shawneetown, Mo. She died March 19, 1974. They were blessed with two children, a son, Leonard and a daughter, JoAnn, who died in 1963.

While residing in Shawneetown, he served on the Board of Trustees at Trinity Lutheran Church until 1944 when they moved to Frohna. He was on the Concordia Lutheran Church Finance Board, Board of Elders, Board of Trustees, Men's Club, a Sunday school teacher, and was one of the charter founders of Saxon Lutheran Memorial, served on the town board and was with the volunteer fire department. He was also co-owner of Frohna Feed Store. He moved to Cape Girardeau in 1975 and worked for Rental Land, retiring after 20 years of employment.

He married Lorna M. Schilling Weber, Jan. 24, 1976, in Cape Girardeau. They were members of St. Andrew Lutheran Church where he served as an usher, on the Board of Elders, Property Board and Finance Board. He and his wife were very active as volunteers at St. Francis Medical Center, Red Cross and with FISH.

Survivors include his wife, Lorna M. Dreyer; a son and daughter-in-law, Leonard G. and Sharon Dreyer of Jackson, Mo.; a stepson and daughter-in-law, Martin B. Weber Jr. and Paula Weber of Colorado Springs, Colo.; three stepdaughters and sons-in-law, Marlene and Morris Stough of Jacksonville, Fla., Loretta and William Leroy Duckett of Cape Girardeau, Geneva and Gary Brandes of Oak Ridge, Mo.; a stepdaughter, Maxine Hessel of Phoenix, Ariz.; his twin brother, Gib Dreyer of Frohna; a sister, Myrtle Petzoldt of Altenburg, Mo.; three grandchildren; 12 stepgrandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and 16 stepgreat-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau. The Rev. Paul Short will officiate.

Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Saxony Lutheran High School Building Fund.
