SCOTT CITY -- Ervin Lester Beggs, 78, of Scott City, died Monday, Sept. 13, 1993, at his home.
He was born Feb. 5, 1915, at Scott City, son of Lester and Christine Miller Beggs. He and Julia Irene Beggs were married Aug. 1, 1942.
Beggs was a brakeman and conductor with St. Louis Southwestern Railway Co. 39 years, retiring in 1974. He was a member of United Transportation Union.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Mary Woodle of Texarkana, Texas; a sister, Erma Lucas of St. Louis; four grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother.
Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City. The Revs. William Dickey and Charles Lance will officiate, with entombment in Memorial Park Mausoleum in Cape Girardeau.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. today.
