EAST PRAIRIE -- Funeral service for Ernest Ray, East Prairie Route 1, will be held at 2 p.m. today at Shelby Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Martin Lucas will officiate, with burial in Dogwood Cemetery.

Ray, 88, died Saturday, July 8, 1995, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

He was born Feb. 12, 1907, in the Whiting community near East Prairie, son of Owen Madison and Rovilla Bonifield Ray. He and Opal Jewel Brewington were married in 1933.

Ray was a farmer, and member of First Christian Church.

Survivors include his wife; a son, John Ray of Bartlett, Tenn.; two daughters, Barbara McKinley of East Prairie, Ernestine Hubbard of Spring Lake, N.J.; six grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters.
