A memorial service for Ernest E. Miner of Cape Girardeau will be held at 3 p.m. today at Lorberg Memorial Funeral Chapel. The Rev. John Gregory will officiate.

Friends may call at the chapel from 1:30 p.m. until service time.

Miner, 81, died Thursday, Nov. 13, 1997, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.

He was born May 18, 1916, in Lovelton, Pa., son of Bruce and Pearl France Miner. He and Frances R. Richardson were married Oct. 24, 1942, in Enid, Okla.

Miner had worked in the parts department at Ford Groves, and had also worked at Horton Sales. He was a member of Maple United Methodist Church.

He received a degree in business administration in 1962. He sponsored Boy Scout Air Explorer Troop. He was the first charter president of American Association of Retired Persons in Cape Girardeau.

Miner was a member of Experimental Aircraft Association on the national level, and also of Southeast Missouri Chapter 453 of EAA,

He was a veteran of World War II and flew four missions on D-Day.

Survivors include his wife; six daughters, Florence Leggett of Cape Girardeau, Helen Miner of Tyler, Texas, Nancy Wright of Jackson, Mary Miner of Niobrara, Neb., Carolyn Goodrich of Sebastian, Fla., Carol Farrar of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Clark Miner of Endicott, N.Y.; a sister, Florence Hopson of Mohawk, N.Y.; and six grandchildren.
