Erna Amanda (Sander) Spalding, 100, of Cape Girardeau died Saturday, Aug. 30, 2008, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Oct. 25, 1907, at Dutchtown, daughter of Albert C. and Amanda Mueller Sander. She married Edward Franklin Spalding on May 1, 1926, in Cape Girardeau. He died Feb. 25, 1974.
She was a lifelong homemaker and member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau.
Survivors include a son, Edward Gene Spalding and his wife, Peggy, of Cape Girardeau; five daughters, Ruby Leach, Nora Lee Seabaugh and her husband, Robert, Shirley Ates and her husband, Marvin, Phyllis Maevers and her husband, Gene, Kay Maevers and her husband, Butch, all of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Albert Sander of Cape Girardeau; five grandchildren, Edward G. Spalding, Jr., Steve Spalding, Jean Ann Trickey, Debbie Ford, Connie Hengst; nine great-grandchildren, Edward G. (Trey) Spalding, Kaitlyn Spalding, Marissa Spalding, Jack Trickey III, Patricia Flores, Ashley Tanksley, Rachel Hengst, Jared Spalding, Enola Spalding; two great-great-grandchildren, Kyndall Rea Ann Flores and Colton Anthony Flores.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; infant daughter, Carolyn Ruth Spalding; and sisters Belma Whitticre and Dorothy Mills.
Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the chapel. Officiating the service will be Rev. Nathan Burgell. Burial will follow at Fairmount Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
