Erna "Jean" Niswonger, 90, of Jackson passed away Monday, Jan. 11, 2010, at Jackson Manor Nursing Home.
She was born April 26, 1919, in Millersville, daughter of Grover Cleveland and Dona Catherine Thaxton Fulbright. She and Glenn O. Niswonger were married June 10, 1942, in Joplin, Mo. He passed away March 9, 2008.
Erna was a graduate of Jackson High School. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Jackson where she was a member of the Joy Choir. She loved her family, music, playing the organ, gardening and cooking.
Loving survivors include a daughter, Brenda (Dr. Lou) Stalnaker of Pensacola, Fla.; a son, Douglas (Paula) Niswonger of Jackson; two grandsons, Dax (Marti) Davault and Ian (Janice) Davault; two great-grandsons, Dax Alexander Davault and Jackson Davault; and a sister, June (George) Svoboda of Edmond, Okla.
She was preceded in death by her husband; an infant son; a grandson, Dain Brinkman; three sisters, Betty Mehrle, Mildred Luetje and Mary Lou Grant.
Friends may call Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Tommy Weems officiating. Interment will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery.
