MARBLE HILL, Mo. — Erma D. Oberlin, 86, passed away Thursday, Nov. 24, 2022, at StoneBridge of Marble Hill.

Born and raised in Missouri, Erma was the daughter of Webster D. Rhodes and Ina Louise Cook Rhodes.

Taught how to read music and sing by their father, Erma and her four sisters enjoyed singing as the gospel group The Rhodes Sisters for many years.

She was also a fantastic seamstress — if you saw something you wanted, Erma could sew it! Her daughters can attest to the many dresses she made for them. She could dress her home as well — making quilts, curtains and upholstering sofas and chairs. Erma had an eye for beauty and could arrange flowers and furniture to perfection. She loved butterflies, glittery jewelry, roses, books and music.

Shortly after beginning her first job at Woolworths, Erma met the love of her life, Glen W. Oberlin, and they were married Nov. 11, 1956, at Little Whitewater Missionary Baptist Church (a lifetime member).

A proud wife, mother and grandmother to many, Erma enjoyed nothing more than sharing a big pot of homemade soup with those she loved! She also found great joy in spending her days reading, watching old movies and cuddling with her treasured pets, Hemingway and Socrates. If you told Erma to have a good day, her reply would inevitably be, "I always do!"

Survivors include one son, Christopher Glen (Khristyn) Oberlin of Springfield, Missouri; two daughters, Patti (Rob) Morrow of Patton, Missouri, and Susan Masters of Rincon, Georgia; four sisters, Joann Bollinger, Lois Lincoln, Linda (Wayne) Johnson and Vickie Miinch; seven grandchildren, Shelley (Chad), Ryan (Katy), Erik (Carrie), Courtney (Gerrod), Raine, Zoe and Grey; and 12 great-grandchildren, Jaxson, Kloe, Kailyn, Aubrey, Dahlia, Bryce, Eli, River, Hudson, Lainey, Bear, Corbin, Wyatt and Thorin.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Glen W. Oberlin.

Memorial Service will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 28, 2022, at Ford and Liley Funeral Home in Patton, with the Rev. Don Estes officiating.
