Erma Lee Mallett, 86, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, July 21, 2003, at Fountainbleau Lodge. She was born June 30, 1917, in Hill Creek, Ark., daughter of John Avery and Ella C. Whitley Trafford. She and Philip Edward Mallett were married Jan. 31, 1937. He died Nov. 26, 1981...

Erma Lee Mallett, 86, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, July 21, 2003, at Fountainbleau Lodge.

She was born June 30, 1917, in Hill Creek, Ark., daughter of John Avery and Ella C. Whitley Trafford. She and Philip Edward Mallett were married Jan. 31, 1937. He died Nov. 26, 1981.

Mallett retired as a sewing machine operator at Florsheim Shoe Co. in Chaffee, Mo., and farmed many years with her husband near Randles, Mo. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church, and had lived in Cape Girardeau since 1993.

Survivors include a son, Edward Mallett of Smithton, Ill.; a daughter, Joan Horrell of Marble Hill, Mo.; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; seven great-stepgrandchildren; and three great-great-stepgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two daughters, three brothers, and two sisters.

Friends may call at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee after 4 p.m. Wednesday.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the chapel, with Chaplain Rick Bradley officiating. Burial will be in Friend Cemetery at Oran, Mo.
