Erma Bell Davis, 91, of Greenfield, Ind., died Sunday, Dec. 14, 1997, at her home. She was born Feb. 7, 1906, at Dudley, daughter of Amos and Mandalia McCoy Woods. She and George Washington Davis were married Jan. 20, 1924. He died July 11, 1966. Davis spent most of her life in Stoddard County, moving to Greenfield in October 1996...

Erma Bell Davis, 91, of Greenfield, Ind., died Sunday, Dec. 14, 1997, at her home.

She was born Feb. 7, 1906, at Dudley, daughter of Amos and Mandalia McCoy Woods. She and George Washington Davis were married Jan. 20, 1924. He died July 11, 1966.

Davis spent most of her life in Stoddard County, moving to Greenfield in October 1996.

Survivors include five sons, Etsel Davis of Indianapolis, Ind., Jeff Davis of DeSoto, Charles Davis of Clarksville, Ark., Luther Davis of Valles Mines, Donald Davis of Omaha, Neb.; two daughters, Gloretta Magee and Irene Wilson of Greenfield; a brother, Homer Woods of Dexter; 36 grandchildren; 55 great-grandchildren; and 34 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by six children, two brothers, and four sisters.

Friends may call at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter from 5-8 p.m. today.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Carthel Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Hagy Cemetery at Dexter.
