Eric William Lynch, 31, of Cape Girardeau crossed over Monday, March 23, 2015, at his home and is dancing and singing in Heaven.
He was born Feb. 29, 1984, to Fred and Robin Crain Lynch.
His short time with us was filled with many accomplishments. He loved sports, playing baseball at age 7 and 8 in the Cape Youth League, and was a fan of many sports and local teams. Eric was a Boy Scout with Troop 5, earning the rank of Life Scout. He enjoyed music and played cello in the Cape Girardeau Central High orchestra. He was selected for the Southeast Missouri Honor Orchestra. He sang whenever the mood struck, and often made up parodies of favorite songs.
Eric was selected for Boys State his junior year, where he was elected chief justice of the Supreme Court. He was gifted academically, helping the Cape Girardeau Central Scholar Bowl team to a state championship his senior year in 2002.
He earned degrees in engineering physics and computer science from Southeast Missouri State University, graduating both magna cum laude.
Eric attended Rock of Cape Church and loved to make people laugh with his stories and puns.
Survivors include his very proud parents; aunts and uncles, Janice (David) Varner, Robert (Gale) Lynch, Lon Crain, Dan (Frances) Crain and "adopted" aunt, Sherry Whaley; and several cousins.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at McCombs Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Mark Carbaugh officiating. Burial will be in Lorimier Cemetery.
