SCOTT CITY, Mo. -- Emmett Leroy McBride Jr., 78, of Scott City died Thursday, May 23, 2002, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Dec. 18, 1923, in Cape Girardeau, son of Emmett and Bertha Cato McBride. He and Freda Sanders were married Aug. 9, 1942, at Chaffee, Mo.
McBride owned McBride Painting and Paperhanging 27 years. He became owner of the Old Viaduct Court in 1963 and renamed it The Terrace Inn. He was employed by Jim Wilson from 1979 until retiring in 1986. He was a member of Fruitland Church of Christ at Fruitland, Mo.
He served in the U.S. Army 160th Combat Engineers in Europe during World War II. He was awarded three Bronze Stars.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Emmett Lynn McBride of Cape Girardeau, Danny B. McBride of Scott City; a daughter, Brenda Moyers of Scott City; two sisters, Betty Grojean of Gordonville, Mo., Laura Mansker of Jackson, Mo.; a brother, Donald McBride of Marmaduke, Ark.; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau from 4 to 8 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. John Stinnett and Ted Spencer will officiate. Burial will be in Lightner Cemetery, with military graveside rites by Missouri Military Honor Team and VFW Post 3838.
