Emmett Earl "Butch" Bounds Jr., 66, of Cape Girardeau passed away Sunday evening, Jan. 13, 2019, at his home.

Born Jan. 18, 1952, in Charleston, Missouri, Emmett was the son of Emmett and Carrie Bici Bounds Sr. He was raised in Missouri, but traveled extensively throughout Europe and Japan during his service in the U.S. Marines Corps.

Butch enjoyed gardening, fishing, attending Lutheran church, reading books on military and American history and collecting indigenous artifacts. During his lifetime, his late spouse and he rescued many cats. He was a great father to his daughter, Sandy, and a wonderful husband to his beloved spouse, Harumi.

Survivors include his daughter, Sandy Bounds; his brother, Floyd Bounds; his half brothers, Eddie and Doug Hart; and his half sister, Patricia Hardesty.

He was preceded in death by his spouse, Harumi, and both parents, Emmett and Carrie.

The family will receive friends for a visitation from 11 a.m. to noon Friday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

Funeral will be at noon Friday at the funeral home, with Pastor Daniel Maske officiating. Burial will follow at 2 p.m. Friday at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Humane Society of Southeast Missouri at semopets.org/donate.
