SIKESTON -- Funeral service for Emma May Carson of Sikeston will be held at 2 p.m. today at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Jim Calvin officiating. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery.

Carson, 71, died Sunday, July 10, 1994, at Sikeston Convalescent Center.

She was born July 8, 1923, in Como, daughter of Charles W. and Sophie Sarah Reed Aters. She and Arthur L. Absher were married in 1940. He died Aug. 2, 1944. She then married William F. Carson Oct. 10, 1945. He died Sept. 3, 1980.

Carson had worked on the Vernon Recker farm in Portageville, and was a member of First Assembly of God Church there.

Survivors include three sons, James Absher of DeSoto, Ronnie and Ernest Carson of The Colony, Texas; a sister, Meca Shaw of Mineral Point; eight grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, five brothers and two sisters.
