DEXTER -- Emma Harris, 83, of Dexter died Thursday, Aug. 20, 1998, at Dexter Memorial Hospital. She was born Dec. 15, 1914, in London, Ark., the daughter of John and Ollie Maude Griffin Gibson. She married Charley F. Harris, who died May 26, 1993. She lived in Arkansas until 1943, when she moved to Parma. In 1973, she moved to Dexter. She had worked at Elders Manufacturing and as a cook on a towboat. She attended First Church of the Nazarene in Dexter...

DEXTER -- Emma Harris, 83, of Dexter died Thursday, Aug. 20, 1998, at Dexter Memorial Hospital.

She was born Dec. 15, 1914, in London, Ark., the daughter of John and Ollie Maude Griffin Gibson.

She married Charley F. Harris, who died May 26, 1993.

She lived in Arkansas until 1943, when she moved to Parma. In 1973, she moved to Dexter. She had worked at Elders Manufacturing and as a cook on a towboat. She attended First Church of the Nazarene in Dexter.

She is survived by three daughters, Bonnie Fairless of Dexter, Betty Butler of Jackson and Dorothy Bertholomey of St. Peters; a sister, Estelle Jones of Richmond, Calif.; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son and nine brothers and sisters.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter. Funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with the Revs. Gerald Beam and Jerrold Lake officiating. Burial will be in the Dexter Cemetery.
