Emma Elizabeth Frye, 93, of Cape Girardeau, died Sunday, Oct. 15, 1995, at the Lutheran Home. She was born Feb. 25, 1902, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of William Henry and Annie Lucy Alford Brucher. She and J. Grant Frye were married Sept. 1, 1923, at First Christian Church. He died Jan. 11, 1956...

Emma Elizabeth Frye, 93, of Cape Girardeau, died Sunday, Oct. 15, 1995, at the Lutheran Home.

She was born Feb. 25, 1902, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of William Henry and Annie Lucy Alford Brucher. She and J. Grant Frye were married Sept. 1, 1923, at First Christian Church. He died Jan. 11, 1956.

Frye attended Southeast Missouri State University, and received a bachelor's degree and certification in elementary education from the University of Missouri in 1924.

She taught two years at Sikeston, a year at Scott City, and following the death of her husband taught 10 years at Chaffee.

Frye was a member of First Christian Church and served in many capacities on the board of trustees. She was a member of Chapter EY of PEO and held all chapter offices, member of Order of Eastern Star of the Illmo Masonic Lodge and served in all local offices. She was also active in American Association of University Women, American Legion Auxiliary, Wednesday Club, and Parent-Teacher Association of Illmo.

Survivors include five sons, John Frye Jr. of Scott City, William and Ralph Frye of Cape Girardeau, Daniel Frye of Ft. Myers, Fla., George Frye of East Lansing, Mich.; two daughters, Betty Bradbury of Cape Girardeau, Helen Craig of Eagle Lake, Texas; 15 grandchildren, and 18 great-grandchildren.

There is no visitation.

Graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Memorial Park, with the Rev. Jim Zink officiating.

Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
