EMILY SCHMIDT

Funeral service for Emily M. Schmidt of Cape Girardeau will be held at 2 p.m. today at Basler Funeral Chapel in St. Marys. The Rev. Jeffery Sippy will officiate, with burial in Immaculate Conception Cemetery at St. Marys.

Schmidt, 89, died Sunday, April 20, 1997, at Chateau Health Center.

She was born Feb. 6, 1908, at St. Marys, daughter of William and Roseine Friedman Schwent. She first married Karl H. Wesch, who died June 22, 1953. She later married Charlee A. Schmidt, who died Aug. 6, 1992.

Schmidt had been a seamstress. She was a member of Hanover Lutheran Church and its Ladies Aid, and Maplewood Women Moose 713 in Maplewood.

Survivors include a sister, Anna Pearson of St. Louis; two stepdaughters; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three brothers and three sisters.
