Emily P. Fulenwider, 96, of Jackson died Thursday, May 13, 2004, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Aug. 19, 1907, in Gillespie, Ill., daughter of Thomas and Martha Seekamp Patterson. She and Allen Fulenwider were married in 1934 and he preceded her in death on May 13, 1978.
The Fulenwiders owned and operated the former Fulenwider Drug store in Jackson from the late 1930s to 1969. Fulenwider also served as a substitute teacher for the Jackson school system.
She was a member of the New McKendree United Methodist Church. She was a former member of the Esther Circle, Kimberland Country Club and Order of Eastern Star in Jackson. She was also a former Worthy Matron and served as a Girl Scout leader for many years.
Survivors include her son, Dr. Rowland Fulenwider of Jackson; two daughters, Judith Hahs of Cape Girardeau and Emily Sue Clifton of Ada, Okla.; seven grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Russell Heights Cemetery. The Rev. John Rice will officiate.
