R. Emery Kembel, 88, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, June 27, 2007, at Ratliff Care Center. He was born Dec. 5, 1918, in Nebo, Mo., son of Robert E. and Alice Adams Kembel. R. Emery Kembel, 88, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, June 27, 2007, at Ratliff Care Center.

He was born Dec. 5, 1918, in Nebo, Mo., son of Robert E. and Alice Adams Kembel. He and Katie Finley were married July 3, 1948, in Osceola, Ark.

Mr. Kembel served in the Army in World War II from 1943 to 1946.

He was a member of Hobbs Chapel United Methodist Church and the Masonic Lodge in Cape Girardeau.

He was a graduate of Draughon's Business College in Springfield, Mo. Mr. Kembel retired from banking after 15 years with Farmers & Merchants and Boatmen's. He was a credit manager and supervisor for Biederman's Furniture more than 20 years.

Survivors include his wife, Katie Kembel of Cape Girardeau; two sons, Robert L. (Debra) Kembel of Oak Ridge, Michael D. (Diana) Kembel of Cincinnati; a sister, Marie Anderson of Nixa, Mo.; two grandsons, Paul and Kyle Kembel, and two granddaughters, Leslie and Amy Kembel.

He was preceded in death by his parents, six sisters and a brother.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. to service time today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. today at the funeral home, with the Rev. Janet Hopkins officiating. Entombment will be in Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum, with full military honors by Missouri Honor Guard.

Memorials may be made to Hobbs Chapel United Methodist Church.
