Emanuel Andrew Colyer, 80, of rural McClure, Ill. died, Friday, Sept. 26, 1997, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born July 15, 1917, at McClure, son of Jesse A Colyer and Jenny Murphy Colyer.
He married Wilma Rogers on May 28, 1938, at Jackson, Mo. She survives.
He was a farmer and landowner in the McClure area. He was a member of the Farm Bureau for 55 years, a director of the Alexander County ASCS Board 18 years, and a member of the McClure-East Cape Girardeau Water District Board. He served as FHA board member for six years, and was a former board member of the former East Cape Girardeau School Board. He was a Woodmen of the World member for 63 years.
He is survived by two sons, Bill Colyer of East Cape Girardeau and Ron Colyer of Columbia, Ill.; a daughter, Peggy Evans of Phoenix, Ariz.; three brothers, Jesse Colyer of Marion, Ill., Marvin Colyer of Farmington, Mo., and Woodrow Colyer of Jackson; three sisters, Alice Morse of Princeton, Ky., Lois Burchyett of McClure and Retha Fogarty of Kirkwood, Mo.; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Service will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel, with the Revs. Bill Whitener, Raymond Oxford and Terry Burchyett officiating. Burial will be in Lindsey Cemetery at McClure.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. today.
