MATTHEWS -- Elzie W. Pollard, 85, of Sells Rest Home in Matthews, died Monday, June 27, 1994, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
He was born June 12, 1909, in Pollard, Ark., son of Walter J. and Mary Russom Pollard. He and Vera E. Rogers were married Dec. 23, 1933, in Piggott, Ark. She died March 29, 1983.
Pollard was a retired car salesman. He was a member of First Baptist Church, charter member of Sikeston Elks Lodge 2319, member of VFW Post and Eagles, Shrine Club, and was a 32nd Degree Mason. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Survivors include a son, Dean Pollard of Sikeston; a daughter, Pat Burgdorf of Dittmer; seven grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a foster son, Roger Stout of North Little Rock, Ark.; a foster daughter, Sue Harris of Sikeston; six foster granddaughters, and two foster great-granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by four brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel after 5 p.m. today.
Funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the chapel, with the Rev. David Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
