BERTRAND, Mo. -- Elzie Pemberton, 86, of Bertrand died Thursday, Dec. 18, 2003, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston, Mo.
He was born Feb. 10, 1917, in Biggers, Ark., son of Theodore and Mirtie Yancey Pemberton. He and Elena Mae Hill were married July 18, 1942. She died May 21, 1987. He and SuEffie Hill were married Oct. 22, 1988, at Bertrand.
Pemberton was a retired farmer, and member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, David and Douglas Pemberton of Bertrand, Jerry Pemberton of Harlingen, Texas; a daughter, Florene Loflin of Cape Girardeau; two stepsons, Dale Banks of New Boston, Mich., Terry Banks of Ann Arbor, Mich.; two stepdaughters, Sue Call of Ypsilanti, Mich., and Sharon Cooper of Deer Park, Texas.
Also surviving is a brother, Tom Pemberton of Fort Mohave, Ariz.; two sisters, Arvella King of Marysville, Ill., Wanda Salyer of Anniston, Mo.; four half brothers, Shirrel Kuykendall of Bloomsdale, Mo., Russell Kuykendall of Florissant, Mo., Almous and Jay Kuykendall of Warsaw, Mo.; four half sisters, Shirley Cates of Charleston, Mo., Betty Schatte of Advance, Mo., Margie Coffer of East Prairie, Mo., Linda Rogers of Independence, Mo.; nine grandchildren; 13 stepgrandchildren; a great-grandchild; and several great-stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers and three stepbrothers.
Friends may call at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with Leo Fansler officiating. Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery near Charleston.
