SIKESTON -- Elwood R. Kinder Sr., 80, of Sikeston, died Wednesday, May 18, 1994, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.
He was born Feb. 25, 1914, in Scott City, son of Earnest and Clara Shumate Kinder. He first married Pauline "Polly" Keesee, who died Nov. 8, 1970. He and Ila Beck Underhill were married Dec. 24, 1973.
Kinder was owner/operator of Nancy's Sweet Shop from 1948-74. He was a former member of the Retail Baker's Association of America.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Elwood Kinder Jr. of Morehouse; two stepsons, Earl Underhill of St. Louis, Mike Underhill of Sikeston; a sister, Ruby Brant of Wappapello; a grandson; two great-grandchildren; six step-grandchildren, and four great-stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons, five brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel from 5-8 p.m. today.
Funeral service will be in the chapel at 2 p.m. Saturday, with the Rev. Vester Keesee officiating. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
