SIKESTON, Mo. -- Elvis Tidwell, 90, of Sikeston died Sunday, July 16, 2000, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

He was born June 20, 1910, in Sikeston, son of Frank and Maggie Whalen Tidwell. He married Lucille Cox on May 18, 1936, in Blodgett, Mo.

Tidwell was a member of First United Methodist Church. He owned and operated gasoline stations for Mobil Oil Co. and Shell Oil Co. From 1937 to 1970. He was an agent for Standard Oil Co. and delivered fuel oil products. He was a member of the Rotary Club, Kiwanis Club and the Sikeston Jaycees.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Karen Dowling of Dyersburg, Tenn., and Pan DeLine of Blytheville, Ark.; a brother, J.C. Tidwell of Sikeston; nine grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.

Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. today at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel.

Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the chapel, with the Rev. Dr. Jim Davis officiating, assisted by the Rev. Sandra Schaller. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery.
