Elvira Metz

ORAN, Mo. — Elvira B. Metz, 91, of Oran passed away Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2008, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Oct. 31, 1916, in Grafton, Ill., daughter of Frank A. and Stella E. Vogelbacher Metz.

Elvira graduated from Oran High School May 11, 1934. She later graduated from Latamier Business College in Cape Girardeau.

She was employed by the Department of Agriculture, Farmers Home Administration, retiring in 1996, after 61 1/2 years of service to the department. She was a member of Guardian Angel Catholic Church in Oran and St. Ann's Sodality.

Survivors include a brother, Clifford J. Metz and wife Betty L. Heisserer Metz.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Oran. Parish prayers will be at 7.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Guardian Angel Catholic Church, with the Rev. Ralph Duffner officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
