Elva Tingle, 93, a longtime resident of Collierville and Cordova, Tennessee, died Friday, July 17, 2015, at Ratliff Care Center in Cape Girardeau.
She was born in 1921 at home in Holum, Louisiana. She married Wilkins Tingle of Copenhagen Prairie, Louisiana, in 1943. He preceded her in death in 2003.
Elva was educated at Grayson, Louisiana, elementary and high schools, where she graduated in 1938. She then earned a double degree in English and library science at Louisiana Normal College in Nachitoches.
She was an avid gardener, a Siamese-cat lover, an ardent supporter of the Shelby County 4-H Club, a secretary for the Collierville ARRP Club, a Sunday-school teacher at Mullins Methodist Church, and wonderful mother and wife.
Survivors include two sons, Randy Tingle of Cape Girardeau and Gregg Tingle of Collierville; a sister, Clois Witt of Thompson, Georgia; four grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and their progeny.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of service today at Riser and Son Funeral Home in Columbia, Louisiana.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. today at the funeral home. Interment will be in Welcome Home Cemetery in Grayson.
Pallbearers will be Milton Bulloch, Gary Warner, James Files, Johnny Files, Dillon Files and Jon Coscarart.
