Elsie Surina, 80, of Cape Girardeau, formerly of Desloge, Missouri, passed away Thursday, Jan. 22, 2015, at Chateau Girardeau Health Center.
She was born Dec. 29, 1934, in Cape Girardeau County to John and Annie Engelmann Ates. She and William Surina were married Dec. 3, 1965, in St. Louis. He died in August 1992.
Elsie was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson and a former member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Park Hills, Missouri.
Survivors include loving sisters, Verna Tidwell of Jackson and Alene Hale of Alton, Illinois; stepchildren, Donna (Thomas) Fritzemeyer of St. Clair, Missouri, and William Surina of Austin, Texas; eight stepchildren; and a great-stepgrandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; siblings, Ruth Deimund, Eula Jones, Lester Ates and LaVern Ates; and a stepson, John Surina.
Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home in Desloge.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Park Hills, with Tristan Engle officiating. Interment will be in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in Bismarck, Missouri.
