ADVANCE, Mo. -- Elodie Davis, 93, of Advance passed away Saturday, Aug. 21, 2021, at her home.
She was born July 15, 1928, in Bollinger County, Missouri, the daughter of John C. and Carrie O. Crites Yanger.
Elodie and J.R. Dixon were united in marriage on Dec. 26, 1948, at Old Salem Methodist Church, and he preceded her in death in 1966. She later married Billy Davis on Oct. 10, 1971, at the Advance Church of Christ, and he preceded her in death Feb. 5, 2008.
Elodie was a 1945 graduate of Oak Ridge High School. As a young woman she moved to Cape Girardeau and began working at the International Shoe factory. She worked as a medical assistant for Dr. E.F. McDonald and later for Dr. Eddie Masters. She retired after working 10 years at Elfrink Truck Line, where she had been a bookkeeper. She also co-owned Chem-Co with her husband, Billy.
For more than 50 years she had been a member of the Advance Church of Christ. Being the pastor's wife and an active member of the church, she was a model example of a Christian woman and a role model for many people.
She was a loving and involved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Survivors include, two daughters, Pam (Randy) Fuller and Sandy (Dennis) Wheetley, both of Advance; a stepdaughter, Sheila (Paul) Perry of Bloomfield, Missouri; a stepson, Michael (Debbie) Davis of Bloomfield; eight grandchildren, Beth Chien, Andy Perry, Darin Davis, Justin Fuller, Tim Perry, Jessica Cloninger, Daniel Davis and Tess Lancaster; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, three brothers and a sister.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at Morgan Funeral Home in Advance.
A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. at the chapel with Pastor Randy Fuller officiating. Burial will follow at Morgan Memorial Park in Advance.
