Elmer Wright, 94, of Cape Girardeau passed away Monday, July 2, 2001, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
He was born Feb. 4, 1907, at Neelys Landing, Mo., son of Thomas and Martha Brooks Wright. He and Anna L. Nitsch were married Feb. 7, 1925. She passed away March 17, 1994.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Harold and Mollie Wright of Jackson, Mo.; a daughter, Allene Reaves of Grand Junction, Colo.; two granddaughters, Donna (Steve) Stedman and Wendy Wright of Jackson; two grandsons, Dean (Mary) and Scott (Rebecca) Wright of Cape Girardeau; 10 great-grandchildren, Doyle and Jason Statt, Kyle Stedman, Sarah, Leah and Nina Parker, Zachary and Macy Wright, Britnie and Tyler Jones.
Mr. Wright worked at the former International Shoe Co. in Jackson and Cape Girardeau 40 years. He then worked with his son at Wright's Garage eight years.
He was of the Methodist belief, was an avid fisherman and enjoyed camping. His family was the priority of his life and took great pride in their accomplishments.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Janet Hopkins officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery at Jackson.
Memorials may be given to Southeast Hospice or American Cancer Society.
