Elmer Wilkens
Elmer G. Wilkens, 96, of Jackson passed away Friday, Nov. 28, 2008, at Jackson Manor.
He was born Feb. 20, 1912, in Shawneetown, son of Henry and Alvenia Kayser Wilkens. He and Mary Helen Short were married May 8, 1937. She passed away May 20, 2000.
Elmer was a farmer in the Jackson area and was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Jackson.
Loving survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Janet Wilkens; a granddaughter, Julie (Kevin) Woodruff; a grandson, Daniel Wilkens; and two great-grandchildren, all of Jackson.
He was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters.
Friends may call Sunday from 11 a.m. until service time at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Grant Gillard officiating. Interment will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery.
The family suggests memorials be made to First Presbyterian Church in Jackson or Pleasant Hill Cemetery Fund.
