ORAN -- Elmer Swinson, 95, of Oran and formerly of Chaffee died Monday, Dec. 8, 1991, at the Veteran's Administration Medical Center in Poplar Bluff.

He was born May 23, 1896, in Plainsville, Ill., the son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry Swinson. On June 1, 1985, he married Jean Reed, who survives of the home.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, and retired in 1962 from the Elgin-Joliet and Eastern Railway Co., where he was Superintendent of the Rails.

Survivors include six step-sons, Stanley and Monte Perdue, both of Viola, Ark., James Perdue of Midway, Ark., Patrick Perdue of Bull Shoals, Ark., Mike Perdue of Gainesville, Ga., and Danny Perdue of Benton; six step-daughters, Jackie Myers of Cuba, Diane Schollof and Cindy Chapman, both of Tampa, Fla., Judy Puddy of Florissant, and Rebecca McConnell and Cathy LeGrand, both of Oran; 38 step-grandchildren; eight step, great-grandchildren; and two step, great, great-grandchildren.

He also was preceded in death by a step-daughter.

Friends may call after 4:30 p.m. today at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee, where funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday. The Rev. Luther Thorne will officiate, and burial will be in the Friend Cemetery in Oran.
