Elmer J. Perry, 82, of Cape Girardeau died Friday, March 15, 2002, at the Lutheran Home. He was born Jan. 16, 1920, at Jackson, Mo., son of Henry and Minnie Farrow Perry. He and Helen O'Howell were married Nov. 20, 1948, in Piggott, Ark. Perry worked on the river several years. He then was foreman of the waste water disposal facility with the city of Cape Girardeau 15 years, retiring in 1982. Elmer J. Perry, 82, of Cape Girardeau died Friday, March 15, 2002, at the Lutheran Home.

He was born Jan. 16, 1920, at Jackson, Mo., son of Henry and Minnie Farrow Perry. He and Helen O'Howell were married Nov. 20, 1948, in Piggott, Ark.

He served in the U.S. Army 7th Cavalry from October 1941 to October 1945 and was awarded four Bronze Stars, the Philippine Liberation Ribbon and Good Conduct Medal.

Survivors include his wife; a son, John Perry of Cape Girardeau; two sisters, Etta Huey and Helen Kaempfe of Cape Girardeau; two brothers, Clarence Perry of Ocala, Fla., and Henry Perry of Cape Girardeau.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday.

Funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jim Matthews officiating. Entombment will be in Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum, with rites by VFW Post 3838 and Missouri Honor Guard.
