Elmer M. Perr, 94, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, Oct. 25, 2015, at the Chateau Girardeau Health Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born May 5, 1921, in New Wells to Martin and Louise (Borchelt) Perr.

Elmer and Velma Hellwege were married Feb. 10, 1946. She preceded him in death May 11, 2004.

He served from 1942 to 1946 as a sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was awarded three Bronze Stars, a Good Conduct Medal and a Purple Heart. Elmer was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3838 and Trinity Lutheran Church.

He retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone Company after 29 years of dedicated service.

Survivors include his sister, Irma Petzoldt of Jackson; a granddaughter, Debbie (Ronnie) McMillan of Scott City; a grandson, Kevin Miller of St. Louis; great-grandchildren, Dalton, Kaila and Preston Miller; and special family, Cynthia Carey, Marilyn Huttegger and Jim "Woody" (Pam) Woodruff.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; daughter, Carolyn Miller; four brothers; and five sisters.

Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Loren Boettcher officiating.

Burial with full military rites will be at Cape County Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau.

Memorial contributions may be given to Trinity Lutheran Church.
