ALTENBURG, Mo. -- Elmer H. Palisch, 76, of Altenburg, died Friday, Sept. 7, 2001, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. He was born Oct. 3, 1924, at Altenburg, son of Adolph Christian and Frieda Ida Jungclaus Palisch. He and Irene Bock were married Oct. 4, 1952...

ALTENBURG, Mo. -- Elmer H. Palisch, 76, of Altenburg, died Friday, Sept. 7, 2001, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Oct. 3, 1924, at Altenburg, son of Adolph Christian and Frieda Ida Jungclaus Palisch. He and Irene Bock were married Oct. 4, 1952.

Palisch had worked at Meyer Bus Line, Fruitland Dressed Meat, and retired as a forklift operator from Perry Crating. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and its choir, American Legion Post 133, and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4282.

He served in the Army during World War II.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Colleen Burroughs; two sons, James and Ronald Palisch, all of Altenburg; a sister, Alma Bodenschatz of Cape Girardeau; and nine grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, and an infant sister.

Friends may call at Young and Sons East Perry Chapel in Altenburg from 5-9 p.m. today, and 8-11:30 a.m. Sunday. An American Legion wake will be held at 7 tonight, and VFW wake will be at 7:15.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Altenburg, with the Rev. Charles Weber officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery, with graveside rites conducted by American Legion Post 133.
