Elmer Palisch

Elmer Ernst Willis Palisch, 94, of Jackson died Tuesday, April 6, 2010, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

He was born July 8, 1915, in Frohna, Mo., son to Ernst R. and Cora J. Mueller Palisch. He and Dorothy Lee Rose were married Nov. 13, 1938. She died June 4, 2006.

Elmer worked for Jackson Oil Co. and Strack Brothers Construction in Jackson, and raised Angus cattle on his Clover Hill Farm. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Jackson, a charter member of its Men's Club, taught Sunday school, sang in the choir, was a long-time elder, served on the building committee for the construction of the new church, was a member of Lutheran Laymen's League, and served on numerous other church boards.

Elmer was also on the Cape County Planning and Zoning Board, Lutheran Home Board, Cape County Shippers Association and a longtime board member of MFA.

Survivors include a son, John (Pat) Palisch of Jackson; two daughters, Mary Rose (Earl) James of Cape Girardeau, Susan (Jan) Goris of Florissant, Mo.; a brother, Hilmer Palisch of Denver; a sister, Corine Boettcher of Frohna, Mo.; five grandchildren, Dan (Jenny) James, Gina (Jonathan) Good, Grant (Erin) Goris, Matthew and Christopher Palisch; and two great-grandchildren, Josh and Seth James.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Wilbert T. Palisch.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to service time Friday at St. Paul Lutheran Church.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the church, with the Rev. Robert Henrichs officiating. Burial will be in Jackson City Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to St. Paul Organ Fund or St. Paul School.
