RISCO -- Elmer C. Ludwig, 101, of Risco died Monday, Sept. 7, 1998, at Ridgeview Manor Nursing Center in Malden.
He was born Feb. 24, 1897, at Pocahontas, son of Charles and Josephine Dambach Ludwig. He and Maudie Schrader were married Jan. 2, 1927, at Bloomfield. She died March 8, 1982.
Ludwig was a retired farmer, and member of Grace Lutheran Church at Malden. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include four daughters, Maxine Goodwin of Risco, Thelma Niehaus of Dexter, Norma Macon of Hampton, Ga., Georgianna Noubarian of St. Louis; four sons, Elmer Ludwig Jr. of Hope, Mich., Bob Ludwig of Maryland Heights, Arlin Ludwig of Farmington, and Norman Ludwig of Parma.
Also surviving are five sisters, Norma Huhn, Altha Proffer and Alphia Hoeh of Cape Girardeau, Nelta Petzoldt of Jackson, Cleta Janowski of Daytona Beach, Fla.; a brother, Willis Ludwig of Oak Ridge; 21 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sons, two daughters, two brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter from 5-8 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. William MacGregor of Bertrand officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery at Malden.
