Elmer Joseph Eftink, 72, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, Nov. 17, 1998, at St. Francis Medical Center.
He was born April 11, 1926, at Laflin, son of John H. and Barbara Horrell Eftink. He and Virginia Boos were married Jan. 24, 1952, in Cape Girardeau.
Eftink worked at Schneider Equipment Co. and from 1954 until the present owned and operated Eftink's Garage. He also farmed many years.
He was a member of St. Mary's Cathedral, Disabled American Veterans, VFW Post 3838, and was an honorary member of Knights of Columbus Council 1111.
Eftink served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He received a Bronze Star, Purple Heart, and Good Conduct Medal.
Survivors include his wife; three sons, Ronald Eftink of Gordonville, Earl Eftink of Cape Girardeau, Kenneth Eftink of Jackson; two daughters, Ruth Dickerson of Jackson, Louise Page of Gordonville; two brothers, Lawrence Eeftink of Leopold, Paul Eeftink of Hazelwood; and 10 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister and a grandchild.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel from 4-8 p.m. today. Parish prayers will be at 7 and KC rosary at 7:30.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Cathedral. Msgr. Richard Rolwing will officiate, with burial in St. Mary's Cemetery.
