JACKSON -- Elmer A. Buck, 73, of Jackson, died Saturday, July 18, 1992, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.
He had lived at the Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau for the past two years. Prior to that, he had resided for several years at the Lutheran Home.
He was born in Altenburg on Jan. 2, 1919, son of Arthur H. and Eda Kaufman Buck.
He married Mary "Mickey" Steinhoff on July 11, 1963. She died Jan. 6, 1979.
He farmed in Altenburg. He then moved to Jackson in 1965 and worked for LaPierre-Sawyer Handle Factory.
He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, the American Legion post in Jackson, the VFW post in Cape Girardeau, and the Disabled American Veterans of Cape Girardeau.
He was a veteran of World War II.
Surviving are two sisters, Elda Haertling of Cape Girardeau and Lorine Palisch of Altenburg.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. today at McCombs Funeral Chapel in Jackson. There will be an American Legion service at 7:30 p.m.
Funeral service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Lawrence Eatherton officiating. Burial will be in the Jackson City Cemetery. The VFW color guard will hold a graveside service.
