Elma A. Haas, 96, of the Lutheran Home, died Saturday, April 30, 1994, at her residence.

She was born Jan. 21, 1898, at Cape Girardeau, daughter of John and Lena Nenninger Vandeven.

She married Alvin A. Haas in 1917, in Cape Girardeau. He died Dec. 31, 1950.

Haas was a member of the St. Mary's Cathedral, the Western Catholic Union, Daughters of Isabella and the Diocesan Council of Catholic Women.

Survivors include four sons, Kenneth Haas, John Haas and Alvin Haas, all of Cape Girardeau, Harold Haas of Kelso; two daughters, Lucille Christoff of Cape Girardeau, Joan Lane of Festus; two brothers, George Vandeven and William Vandeven, both of Cape Girardeau; 18 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, a sister and a grandchild.

Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. today at the Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel. Daughters of Isabella will offer prayers at 6:30 p.m., parish prayers will be at 7 p.m. today, followed by a Knights of Columbus Rosary at 7:30 p.m.

Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary's Cathedral, with the Rev. Glenn Eftink officiating.

Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
