EAST PRAIRIE -- Graveside service for Ellouise Melton of Louisville, Ky., will be held at 10 a.m. today at IOOF Cemetery in Charleston.
A memorial service will be held at 7 tonight at St. Matthew's Baptist Church in Louisville.
Melton, 70, formerly of East Prairie and New Madrid, died Sunday, May 22, 1994, in Louisville.
She was born Oct. 3, 1923, daughter of Everett and Mona Garwood. She married Ray Melton May 18, 1946.
Melton received a bachelor of science degree from Southeast Missouri State University, and a master's degree from Murray State University.
She retired after teaching 38 years in schools at Concord, East Prairie, Charleston, and New Madrid County. She was Headstart director with Delta Area Economic Opportunity Corp., and served as president of Missouri Headstart Directors Association Inc. She was a member of St. Matthew's Church.
Survivors include her husband; a brother, Glenn Garwood of Murray, Ky.; a sister, Modena Garwood of Louisville; a daughter, Raylene Hurton of Richmond, Va., and three grandsons.
