PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Ellen L. Weinhold, 88, of Crosstown, Missouri, died Wednesday, July 22, 2020, at Independence Care Center in Perryville. She was born Feb. 10, 1932, in Cape Girardeau County to Edwin and Laura Aufdenberg Fluegge. She and Herbert Weinhold were married Aug. 9, 1953. He preceded her in death Sept. 28, 2015...

PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Ellen L. Weinhold, 88, of Crosstown, Missouri, died Wednesday, July 22, 2020, at Independence Care Center in Perryville.

She was born Feb. 10, 1932, in Cape Girardeau County to Edwin and Laura Aufdenberg Fluegge. She and Herbert Weinhold were married Aug. 9, 1953. He preceded her in death Sept. 28, 2015.

She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Crosstown and Ladies Aid, and previously served as church organist and Sunday school teacher. Ellen was a school teacher in California, Missouri and locally at Tilsit and Uniontown, Missouri. She taught public school at Menfro, Missouri; McBride, Missouri; and Perryville Elementary School. She also continued teaching through Blue Hills Federal Reading Program at various parochial schools in the area. She was a charter member of Alpha Delta Kappa Teacher Sorority.

Survivors include one daughter, Carole (James) Brown of Perryville; son, Scott (Gena) Weinhold of Crosstown; sister, Alice (Glen) Birk of Jackson; brother, Glenn Fluegge of Ste. Genevieve, Missouri; sister-in-law, Betty Fluegge of Jackson; and grandchildren, Michael (Mae Grace) Brown of Eureka, Missouri, Jordan (Lauren) Brown of Sunnyvale, California, and Ashley and David Weinhold of Crosstown.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Wilman Fluegge; and sister-in-law, Nancy Fluegge.

Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday, July 25, at Zion Lutheran Church in Crosstown.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 25, at the church, with the Rev. Roger Abernathy officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be given to Saxony Lutheran High School or Zion Lutheran Church in Crosstown.

Ford and Young Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
