ORAN -- Ellen Jewell Thomas, 71, of Oran died Tuesday, Oct. 22, 1996, at her home.

She was born Jan. 22, 1925, in Howell, Ark., daughter of Warren and Hillard Morris Carroll. She married Albert Thomas.

Thomas was a member of Bell City Church of God in Christ.

Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Mary Lewis of Chicago, Annie Scott of Las Vegas, Nev., Ruth Thomas-Collins of St. Louis; two sons, Morris Birts of Sacramento, Calif., Andrew Thomas of St. Louis; 18 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

Friends may call at the Bell City church Sunday from noon to service time.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at the church, with Elder David Pullen officiating. Burial will be in J.C. Pullen Memorial Garden near Bell City.

Williams-Farr and Purnell Funeral Home at Sikeston is in charge of arrangements.
