Beloved Jackson elementary school teacher Ellen L. Lewis, 65, of Jackson unexpectedly passed away Sunday, April 5, 2020, at her home.
She was born Oct. 1, 1954, to Leonard N. "Lefty" and Louise A. Morton Swan. She and Howard Lewis were married Oct. 22, 1977, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Pocahontas, where she served as the church organist for more than 50 years.
Due to current health concerns, the family will privately honor Ellen with a graveside service at Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson, with the Rev. Lawrence Bradt officiating.
A public memorial service will be announced at a later date.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to St. John's Lutheran Church in Pocahontas or to the Jackson R-2 School Foundation.
