Ella Johnson Ruesler, 86, of Cape Girardeau, died Tuesday, Jan. 7, 1992, at Cape LaCroix, where she had resided 11 years.

She was born Feb. 6, 1905, in Alexander County, Ill., daughter of Samuel M. and Fannie Sivia Burns. She married James Y. Johnson in 1920. She later married Otto Ruesler, who died in 1971.

Ruesler was a member of Cape Rock Baptist Church.

Survivors include a son, Samuel B. Johnson of Cape Girardeau; three daughters, Mary Maupin of Cape Girardeau, Virgie "Toots" Warren of Olive Branch, Ill., Deloris Barrett of Collinsville, Ill.; 12 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by seven brothers and three sisters.

Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel. The Revs. David Conley and Charles Horton will officiate, with burial in Christian Chapel Cemetery at Dongola, Ill.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. today.
