Elizabeth Tilghman, 89, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2003, at the Lutheran Home.
She was born April 13, 1914, in Rutherford, Tenn., daughter of Franklin and Molly Tinkle Edmundson. She and Rex Tilghman were married in 1934 in Rutherford. He died in 1988.
Mrs. Tilghman was a graduate of the University of Memphis. She was an elementary teacher more than 30 years, retiring from Wolf Lake, Ill., schools. She was a member of First Christian Church.
Survivors include a son, Jim Tilghman of Cape Girardeau; a daughter, Betty Henson of Cape Girardeau; six grandchildren, Dennis Henson of St. Louis, Rick Henson of Austin, Texas, Betsy Buchheit of Cape Girardeau, Timothy Tilghman of New York, N.Y., Tyler Tilghman of Sedgewickville, Mo., Ross Tilghman of Springfield, Mo.; three great-grandchildren, Claire Henson of St. Louis, Allison Elizabeth and Sydney Elizabeth Buchheit of Cape Girardeau.
She was preceded in death by a brother and three sisters.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Ford and Sons Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
