Elizabeth Elsie Johnson, 92, of Cape Girardeau died Friday, Dec. 3, 2010, at her home. She was born April 17, 1918, in Poplar Bluff, Mo., to Adolph and Hilde Wagner Thies. Elizabeth and Harmon H. Johnson were married Aug. 17, 1949, in Poplar Bluff. They began their married life together in Malden, Mo., before moving to Dexter, Mo., in 1952. Harmon preceded her in death Dec. 13, 1999...

Elizabeth Elsie Johnson, 92, of Cape Girardeau died Friday, Dec. 3, 2010, at her home.

She was born April 17, 1918, in Poplar Bluff, Mo., to Adolph and Hilde Wagner Thies. Elizabeth and Harmon H. Johnson were married Aug. 17, 1949, in Poplar Bluff.

They began their married life together in Malden, Mo., before moving to Dexter, Mo., in 1952. Harmon preceded her in death Dec. 13, 1999.

Elizabeth was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church.

Survivors include three daughters, Janis Devlin of Littleton, Colo., Rebecca Dickerson of Morton, Ill., Brenda Johnson of Cape Girardeau; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Dorothy Massey of Poplar Bluff and Esther Burns of Osawatomie, Kan.

Elizabeth and Harmon were charter members of Faith Lutheran Church in Dexter. Elizabeth was active for many years in the Lutheran Women's Missionary League, Altar Guild, and as a Sunday school teacher.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Zion Lutheran Church in Poplar Bluff, with the Rev. Gary R. Hoffstetter officiating. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery in Poplar Bluff.
