NORTH LILBOURN -- Elizabeth Hughes, 87, of North Lilbourn died Saturday March 22, 1997, at her residence. She was born Feb. 13, 1910 in Marion, Ark., daughter of James and Frances Watkins Douglas. She had lived in Missouri since 1942. She was a member of the mother board and the choir of Mount Olive Baptist Church in Lilbourn. She married Argentry Hughes in January 1976, and he preceded her in death on March 6, 1986...

NORTH LILBOURN -- Elizabeth Hughes, 87, of North Lilbourn died Saturday March 22, 1997, at her residence.

She was born Feb. 13, 1910 in Marion, Ark., daughter of James and Frances Watkins Douglas. She had lived in Missouri since 1942.

She was a member of the mother board and the choir of Mount Olive Baptist Church in Lilbourn. She married Argentry Hughes in January 1976, and he preceded her in death on March 6, 1986.

She is survived by three daughters, Minni Russell of St. Louis, Gloria and Betty Avant, both of Longview, Texas; a stepson, Lester Hughes of Lilbourn; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a son and two sisters.

Friends may call from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the Williams-Farr and Purnell Funeral Home in Howardville. Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at the Mount Olive Baptist Church with the Rev. Garfrey Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Simmons Park Cemetery in Catron.
