Elizabeth Borden

MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Elizabeth Nann Borden, 69, of Marble Hill died Monday, May 10, 2004, at Monticello House in Jackson.

She was born Nov. 21, 1934, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of Leon and Pauline Britt Sander.

Borden was a 1952 graduate of Lutesville High School and a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University. She was an elementary teacher at Woodland and Leopold school districts. She later received a master's degree in historic preservation from Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro.

She had been Main Street project director in Louisiana, and a preservationist with Chicago Landmark Association. She moved back to Marble Hill in 1996 and had been a substitute teacher and worked at Tri County Home Care.

Borden was a member of Bollinger County Historical Society, Project Endeavor, Bollinger County Art Guild, and Will Mayfield College Foundation.

Survivors include three sons, Britt Borden of South Dakota, Nevin Borden of Homewood, Ill., Erich Borden of Carmel, Ind.; and two grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister.

Friends may call at Hutchings Funeral Chapel in Marble Hill from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday.

A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at the chapel, with the Rev. Sam Roethemeyer officiating. Burial will be in Marble Hill Cemetery.
